Psychologists recommend that you should balance your time together and apart to maintain a sense of well-being as an individual and as a couple; however, most of us don’t find that balance. Between work (that isn’t really alone time), spending time with family and friends, and going to engagements as a couple, it can be hard to find any alone time.
The glossy magazines that litter the newsstands do a real disservice to you all by defining beauty in such a narrow way. A quick flip through the pages and it’s boringly obvious that most of the models and celebrities featured in these magazines are really a variation on the same theme. The truth for us men, however, is that beauty is diverse and idiosyncratic. (Great news for you.) Some of us want the well-endowed woman, while others are repulsed by the surgically enhanced. Some of us want tall and slim, while others want short and curvaceous. Some of us want you to have some “junk in the trunk,” while others want it small and tight. There really is some truth to the saying, “There’s a lid for every pot.” The challenge for most women, however, is finding that fit.
If you’re like most women out there who are dating but not yet in a serious relationship, it’s probable that you’re curious about how to get your current guy to commit. Perhaps it seems like it’s headed in that direction, but you want to be sure. Or maybe it’s something new and you want to know if and when it will have a future. It’s really confusing when a guy acts like he’s very interested in and cares about you, but he makes no steps to commit to you. Ladies, welcome to the club.
The thing to realize is that people with great relationships don’t have the great relationships because they know great relationship secrets or psychological loopholes of the male mind. Fundamentally, people in the best relationships all have one thing in common: they don’t have relationships with people who are not a good match for them. They don’t let them into their life.
I meet a guy couple months ago,he live in new york ,i live in Georgia.when we first meet we talk on the phone and text every day.now its like every other week if any, also his not calling me when his home.he’ll call me on his way to work or home.what should I do on his birthday I asked him for his address so I can mail him a card, and he said no cause,he doesn’t like woman to send him gifts on his birthday?

It has NOTHING to do with lying about your feelings, but about not chasing the other person when they need time and space, and TRUSTING the other person. When you chase, it basically signals him that you don’t trust him. Believe it, I know it’s counter-intuitive and for women, it’s a mystery, but it is TRUE. You want to date a guy, right? Then PLEASE understand it is natural for guys to want to find the balance between intimacy and independence, vulnerability and strength, relationship and freedom. If he need space, GIVE HIM SPACE. It says NOTHING about lying — it’s just it’s not the right time to discuss your feelings. Pick another time, like when you two are ready to have a talk — when he is feeling closer to you. Choose the right time and the right words. That’s all. No one says you should be lying about how you feel; and trust me, if you really are not happy to hear from him, then maybe you should just call it quits because that “love” is not real. I mean, if a child runs away and then comes back, would you ever feel and say “I don’t want to see you?” That’s just selfish, and love. Trust me, and this from a guy who has been on that side of the fence.
It’s true, we are naturally attracted to people like ourselves. The more you have in common the better but even more important, you should show him your interest by mirroring him. This doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve got to wear the same clothes as he does. However you should copy his actions. If he takes a sip of his drink you should do the same. Use the same words he does later in the conversation, and if he holds his hands a certain way you should do the same.
I know that what this article writes it’s true. At the same time, do I really want a person with which I have to lie about my true feelings? I am very intense, passionate, and so talk a lot about what so feel and what ai think. I feel hurt of I am not in his priorities, if he never calls me or if he says he is not sure of what he wants. Of course it would be better for the lenght of the relationship stay quiet and wait. But would I feel really fullfilled and loved just tolerating?
Sometimes the man you’re missing is yours, and you want to stay in his mind. There are many things you can do to ensure he’ll think of you. Have you ever cleaned your room and found an old movie stub or small item and had memories rush back? It’s amazing what a tiny item can do. Make a point of leaving a small memento behind in your man’s car or house. When he sees that earring or hair clip, you’ll come to mind, and he’ll want to see you that much more. DO NOT leave behind a toothbrush or other items that are of an intimate nature because this will surely cause him to panic. Think cute when it comes leaving a little piece of you at his place and he won’t be able to take his mind off of you.
I met my dream guy 1.5 years ago , Long distance , we text and stay in touch through Videos and social media , and the love started growing , we are both connected daily , however now that I live in the same town , do my own thing , I love to be independent , we still continue our game but he is not bringing it up to the next level of action yet, like asking out for a date , I wonder if I need to withdraw more , make him miss me more , and not respond to his videos an hour or 2hours later ? I am always available , every day when he posts …AM.
Yes!!! I made this mistake with my boyfriend when he said he wanted some space and instead i just kept pushing and pushing to fix things. Everything just got worse. It’s absolutely torture to try to not interact with the person you love but if he is having doubts, bugging him will prob make him pull away more and if he is having doubts in the first place maybe things aren’t meant to be. My whole philosophy is that if someone doesn’t enjoy being with me then I don’t want to be with them either.
For an advanced relationship where you feel safe to do so, you can add some sultry tones. You could acknowledge a new move he tried in the bedroom last night and tell him you’re still thinking about it. Maybe you send him a snap of some lingerie you bought and say you’re looking forward to him coming over later. These kinds of messages are a sure-fire way to have him thinking about you all day long.
I’m going through almost the same thing with an almost 2 year relationship.. We lived together for over a year and he is OCD and I’m a clutter/messy person.. I always would say our apartment was too small & couldn’t fit all of our stuff. He just would say that I had too much junk & didn’t clean good enough. :( Anyway we broke up over 10 days ago because he said I couldn’t change. So much stuff was happening with his family (parents moved to another state) and he could see/talk to them anymore. He became depressed, and withdrew emotionally from me. He barely even talked to me. I withdrew from him for a week before the breakup when his friend came over because he was also distant and it created tension between us. I went to my moms the weekend he took his friend home because they wanted boy time. I became clingy the day before he made me leave. I hope your situation worked itself out and you two are together or are working on things! Mine said that we were done for good, I’m not right for him even though he still loves me. I’m just waiting in limbo & silence for him to come back.
If you find that you never ever want space from him, it’s time for you to start finding your own space anyway. It’s not healthy for couples to spend all their time together. It can cause you to neglect your friends, family, and self. You can start to rely too much on this man (and, in my mind, you always need just a dose of independence for yourself) and lose your identity.

Ok firstly all the hormone talk is true and your man goes through a 30 day cycle just like our 28 day cycle but opposite hormones. If your man is constantly pulling away not answering messages etc he is not finding himself he is rude, inconsiderate and needs to get his act together cause these ones head for divorce number 4 before the end of their lives. A man wanting time to himself is fine, go to the man cave but you have responsibilities here at home, don’t forget those or you’re in the doghouse. You pull away expect your woman to pull away right back, were not your Mummas be a man, a man never makes his woman Chase him. A man loves the Chase. Raise your son’s to have respect for women. Because going into their mancaves for days or weeks says these things: 1. You’re a control freak narcissist, 2. You have no love or respect or hmbleness in your heart, 3. Your woman is now available! ye! That’s right ladies say bye! You deserve better. Good luck.
Who doesn’t like to receive nice compliments? Your boyfriend deserves it from you. Compliment him when you happen to see him. You don’t have to give too much and it doesn’t have to be so exaggerated. It’s enough to compliment on his clothes or his haircut. Even better, you can just say that meeting him has helped you forget all the tiredness you’ve been feeling for this week.
Ask him if he's ever been to Guam. Or New Mexico. Or Phoenix. "I hear they have giant lizards there," you might say, toying with your pasta. "I'd like to live where there are giant lizards." By contemplating a big move — to another city, country, or hell, another apartment (and out of your shared bedroom) — you show him you're antsy with the current setup. "We were talking about my job, and I told him I wasn't seeing a future here. He suggested sending resumes around town," says Jenna McCoy, 28, an accountant for a Philadelphia law firm. "He didn't get the hint. So I told him I needed to make a larger change, like maybe to another city, because I was stagnating. The first thing out of his mouth was 'Is it me?'"

Julie, i’m glad you responded to my comment. Thank you! i needed a perspective of a third person, which you did n i really appreciate it. What you said does make sense, we had indeed just met. i only wished i had stayed longer to get to know him better. but my family said they needed me and I moved without even thinking twice. Funny thing is, after i did move, my mom was like she felt sad for me that i moved quitting my job and all and that i should’ve stayed back if i wanted to. i was like in my mind, are you serious?! lol
When he talks about something that’s important to him, follow up with additional questions. Remember what he says. Even if it’s not an interest that you share, be willing to learn about it. Who knows, maybe it’ll end up becoming something you’re passionate about as well. If not, being receptive to it regardless will show him you care more about him than doing exactly what you want with every second of your day.
Recently he saw that I had written “your peeps are creative” to someone’s group Halloween photo. He freaked out and said I was hitting on other men. When I tried to hug him to calm him down, he pushed me off. He then deleted all my photos from his IG and FB. That same night his sister in law called and asked if he and I broke up. I told her what happened and she went and did a blast text message to his entire family about him being an abuser. She said she is purposely pushing me out for my own good.
#1 Be fun and easy going. Guys are much less complicated than women, that much is for certain. They like things to be easy going and relaxed. Which means they don’t really want to commit to someone who’s going to add stress to their life. So be easy going and keep things light and fun. He’ll be much more willing to commit. Let’s face it: some guys are simply just not interested in long term relationships, and would much rather have flings. They love to enter into relationships, have fun with a woman for a few weeks, and then move onto the next thing. It’s nothing to take personal- he’s probably just young or immature and isn’t ready to have anything “real”. If this is the case, you’re better off without him anyways and you should be glad he pulled away rather than cheating.

After a breakup, there always comes a time when you are forced to make a decision on whether to acknowledge your ex or not. This decision usually pops up on his birthday or a major holiday. Should you send that happy birthday text? Should you really hit send on that "Merry Christmas" message? The answer is no! Whatever you do, do not acknowledge your ex’s birthday, don’t wish him a happy Memorial Day, and just slap yourself for even justifying the need to send him a “Happy President’s Day” tweet. If you really want your ex to miss you, you have to hit him where it hurts. By refusing to acknowledge him on days that are important to him, it sends out the message that you have moved on, and he will instinctively want to draw you right back into his arms. He will definitely be missing all the attention he once received from you.
Spending Saturday morning in the soup kitchen or helping an elderly person carry his groceries may help your partner see you in a more serious light. In a recent British study, people rated potential sexual partners to be more attractive for a long-term relationship if they had altruistic qualities. "Giving back to others shows your good heart and integrity, and although they may not consciously think that far in the future, partners are subconsciously assessing maternal traits in a woman to see what kind of mother she'd be," Kelman says. I am from America, but I am currently studying in Europe. During a holiday I went with some friends for a trip in another country here. There I met a guy in a bar. We kissed and he walked me back to my hotel, we said good buy and he got my contact. The next day he text me and invited me for drinks because it was his last night in the city (he was also there in a trip). We went to a bar and had a nice conversation. After that I said that it would be better to be just friends (because we meet during a trip and we both live in different countries in Europe). First he kept saying that I was very special, different from the other girls, and that he didn’t want to just say good bye. But I insisted that it was better like this (given that we had just met). He was clearly very upset and he even unfriended me on Facebook. I was sad about it the next day, so I decided to text him and let him know that I liked him and we could see each other in the future if he felt the same. He said he was upset before because I acted like he didn’t mean when he said I was special and he felt like I thought he was just interested in sleeping with me. He said he already done that in the past, but that this time this wasn’t the case. Then he said he missed me and booked a flight to visit me one month after. We were talking everyday through messages and some days in Skype (he would take the initiative). He came to my city for 3 days and we had a great time. During his last day in my town he seemed a bit distant or sad, but he gave the impression that he would like to visit me again. When I said I could visit him in his town he seemed really happy. But, the problem is that I will return to America in two months. So, my idea was to see him at least one more time before that, but I didn’t have hopes for a relationship. When he returned to his city we were still talking everyday with messages and sometimes Skype (again his initiative), but he wouldn’t let me know if we could see each other again. After two weeks I directly asked him if he would like to see me again or not. He said the needed time to think, because even though we could have a nice weekend together it would make things to be quite worse afterwords. And also he said, he had a bad experience in the past with a distant relationship, and that he promised himself to never do it again before he met me. First, I thought it was strange that he was mentioning a relationship after seeing each other only two times. Second, if he already knew from the past that he didn’t want a distant relationship, why would he buy a flight to visit me in the first place? I though that maybe we was just looking for a casual thing after all. On the other hand, if he is just looking for a casual thing, why wouldn’t he want to meet me just one more time before I go back to America? I still have some time before I leave to America, and it has been 1 month since we discussed this situation about seeing each other again. So, I don’t know if I should send him another message and tell him that we can still meet in case he change his mind. My intention was just to see him one more time and enjoy a nice time together, because I really liked this guy and this is unusual for me. So, even though we couldn’t have a relationship I would like to see him one more time. The problem is that I already made it clear before that I also didn’t want a distant relationship, and still he said that if we met things would be worst afterwords. Should I text him again and leave it open in case he changes his mind? Or do I risk damaging the nice terms in each we are now?

Understanding that you do not need a man in order to be the best version of yourself is crucial. Loving yourself and doing exactly what makes you happy is key, which means that you need to know how to be happy alone. When you have this type of mentality, you will be able to spot red flags instantly and become more admirable. If a man wants to be with you, he will make it known throughout the relationship. He will make it known in healthy ways of properly courting you. He’s not going to send you the late night 11 pm or 1 am text for you to come over and “watch a movie.”
He may need a little time to adjust to the situation you two are in, if it’s a long-distance thing, then he’s going to need space and time to think about everything. This doesn’t mean start ignoring his calls or stop texting him back, you should simply realize he may need space. Just because he wants some space also doesn’t mean he doesn’t miss you, sometimes change is a huge thing and people deal with it in different ways. Giving him space will allow him to realize how much he loves and misses you, this is likely to lead to a discussion between the two of you about your feelings.
Once you’re in a relationship, this part is especially crucial. Part of the learning curve of a new relationship is figuring out how much alone time each person needs. In most cases, there’s always going to be one person who needs more alone time than the other. Don’t take it personally if he’s the one that needs more introverted unwind time than you do.
Knowing he can coexist with his girlfriend is the key to answering how to make him want to commit. The weekend will also show that spending time with you alone isn’t something he should be afraid of. At the end of the weekend he’ll be happy as he had great time, and when he comes back to the hustle and bustle of the city, he will definitely miss that weekend.
It has been proven that people appreciate the things that they invest in. For example, you’re more likely to fall in love and take better care of an expensive handbag if it took you 12 months worth of savings to purchase it. But for the purse your cousin gifted you for your 21st birthday, it stays crammed in the back of your closet. You didn’t have to work very hard to obtain it, so it doesn’t hold the same type of sentimental value to you. The same principal applies to relationships. People care more when they put more effort into their relationships, so if you want your guy to commit, you have to get him to invest in you!
Forget all those relationship expert columns that tell you it’s most important to your man that he first see what’s in your heart. Bull****. It’s most important to see what’s inside your clothes. Now, before you scream, “Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!” listen carefully. I’m not saying that we need to get into your pants right away in order to enjoy your company. But I am saying that men definitely need to know that you have the goods and that you take care of yourself. To put it bluntly, a guy’s first interest in a woman has nothing to do with the handbag she’s carrying or that she graduated from an Ivy League school. What your (potential) man wants you to know but won’t tell you is that his initial attraction is all about your appearance and physical being, which sends a flood of highly charged testosterone racing through his veins. Yes, the physical is first, and we’re not saying we won’t eventually fall in love with your intelligence, kindness, and humor. These extremely important attributes are the ones that will ultimately be critical in helping you hook us. But in the beginning the number-one attribute is what you look like and how well you take care of yourself.

I enjoy reading your articles. I’ve been seeing this guy for almost a year. We dated before 6 years ago and the reason we stopped dating is because he said I was pushing for something he wasn’t ready for. I didn’t realize I was pushing. He’s saying now like he said before, he doesn’t want a girlfriend right now, he’s too busy. But yet he’s still interested. He has said things to me like, “I’ve been thinking about you a lot and there’s nothing I can do about”, “We are more than just friends”, and then he pulls away again. It’s been an emotional roller coaster ride with him. He lives an hour away, we only text once a week or so, and only see each other every 2 or 3 months. We get frustrated with each and have arguments but still want to see each other so there’s something there. We are both Scorpios so I’ve been reading articles about 2 Scorpios being in a relationship and reading your articles. I’ve tried very hard not to seem “pushy” and realize the relationship is what it currently is. But how long do I have to wait for him to want to see me more? What should I say to him?

Wow, I really liked some of your advice. I know most of that, but I really needed to hear it again. I'm not doing a great job at being unattached and being independent. lol. I put drinking glasses around the house over our bugs to let him kill them when he gets home. lol. I guess I should suck it up and pick them up and not be such a needy baby about that. Heck, I've done it before. Just not my favorite chore. Thanks for the encouragement!
Commitment is a funny thing. We allow our desire for it and other people’s promises of it, to blind and paralyze us from seeing and acting upon red/pink flags that are often, right in front of our face from the get-go. “How to get him to commit to a serious relationship,” is something I’ve Googled too many times to count. I ended up finding the answer through life-living, mistake-making, time-wasting decisions that sabotaged the chances of anyone ever wanting to commit to me in any regard.
While it is a good idea to talk things through if you want to define what your relationship is, you should go easy on placing labels. Putting pressure early on to what you have, even if it is something special could lead to its premature death. Instead look out for signs that you are going steady like seeing each other exclusively, being updated with each other’s activities, and getting to know someone’s friends and family.
Answer: Just because dopamine is not being produced naturally, that doesn’t mean you can’t find ways to create it. You have to turn on the heat sometimes to bring the magic back. @ Sam after reading your post I really don’t understand your question because you did say you refuse to be with someone who showed you he doesn’t care about your health if only we women really Focus on men ACTIONS not his words ACTIONS tells us the Truth… I think you really know he doesn’t really care about you and you should treat him the same with the I Don’t Care Attitude and move on.
Sometimes, it’s not about what he wants but what he doesn’t want. Maybe he’s not sure about committing to you. But what if he’s sure of not wanting you to commit to someone else? Make use of that fear of his. Casually drop this bomb in conversations that you have, you know, like how you’re tired of immature boys in your life who don’t want to commit, and how X (a friend of your friend’s) likes you. Let him connect the dots and then watch fear creep into his eyes. That’s one spectacular way on how to get him to commit!

Many articles on how to get a man to commit tell you to make him laugh, and do fun stuff with him. If you think your man is funny, laugh. If he has achievements, great or small, congratulate him. The phrase that says encouragement sweetens labor can be edequately applied to relationships. Show him that you appreciate his sense of humor, and he will not only feel as the center of attention, but the center of your world; ensure that he always know that you appreciate him. That is one of the ways how to make a man commit and create an unbreakable bond with you. You will become his number one girl, and you showing appreciation and genuine interest in him is what makes him want to commit.
So, I met him accidentlly one night on the way to a friend’s place after a party. th is guy’s bike had broke down n he also had bruises on him because had slipped. i asked my friends to stop to help him. my friends helped him n I, God knows why, invited him over to my friend’s place, one of the reasons may be because it was late at night and he stayed close to my friend’s place. He accepted. We hit it off right away. we stayed up all night, all of us and talked. next morning he also stayed back for breakfast. he randomly gave out his #. but i did not save it. instead one of my friend(guy) did. I was leaving the city pretty soon. so, my friends and i were planning for house party at my place. he offered to come, too and suggested he’d cook as a thank you for helping him.

Typically, men love to see their woman as a prize that they need to work for. They see the woman that they choose to be with as an accomplishment and as someone that took work to earn. It might sound a little silly but it’s true. Men love to know a woman has a mind of her own, is confident, and isn’t easy to get. So, men pull away when women get too clingy. Do not start canceling all your plans to be available to him every day all day.

If you’re missing him, odds are he’s used to you fawning over him. Switch things up when you see him and treat him like a good friend instead of the man who’s keeping your mind occupied all of the time. Hold back the feelings you have for him even thought it may be difficult. Be polite, courteous, and not flirtatious before saying goodbye during your chance encounter. This is more effective if you have another man by your side. When he realizes he doesn’t have a hold on you, then the wheels will start turning and you'll be on his mind. Of course, this may also backfire and get him to think that you’re not interested in him so practice discretion when going this route. If he’s sensitive and this could hurt him emotionally it’s best to keep other guys at a distance, try the other options listed.
Of course, the best thing that will be missed by guys are the extraordinary love and care that their girlfriends are giving them. If you really want your boyfriend to miss you deeply, then make him fall in love with you deeply. Always give him your tender loving care. Make him happy when he’s sad, be at his side when he needs support, nurse him when he’s sick, understand him when he makes mistakes, be faithful to him, and love him for who he really is.
#4 He is attracted to someone else. If nothing happened and he is suddenly pulling away, then it may be that he is attracted to someone else. If he is thinking about being with another woman, he may be trying to find a way out of the relationship. If you notice that his habits are changing, he is no longer interested in sex, or if he becomes more secretive and rarely spends time with you, then he may have found someone else.
How to make him commit to a relationship, you might be wondering? You have decided that it is time to stop playing games and get serious with the man in your life but he might be putting up a resistance. Stack up some tips up your sleeves, and he’ll be ready for a long-term relationship in no time. Stop wondering how to get him to commit to a relationship and read these awesome tips, but primarily, guidelines on how to get a guy to commit is really not that hard, that is if HE really wants to.

And that’s it. You don’t ask him for anything. You also continue dating other men until you have the commitment that makes you happy. I know this is hard, but trust me when I say you are doing the best thing you possibly can to ensure your happiness. No man should ever feel like he’s your man of choice, he’s your “One,” or that you’re only seeing him. Not until he’s committed.
When you’ve won his affection, you don’t want to give up all of your time for him. Your man is not going to miss you if you’re constantly available. Instead of spending the whole weekend together, take a night off and go out with your friends. Not only will it make your man miss you, it’ll keep you sane. Don’t worry about him enjoying the free time. Your man may seem to enjoy the time alone at first, but eventually your man will crave more time with you. Of course, giving him space to enjoy his alone time is going to make you look confident and less clingy. Guys really like it when the girl they’re interested in isn’t always in his business. Give him his space and he’ll be calling you up in no time to hang out.

If your man is acting distant and you want him to come back to you, chasing after him plain won’t work. The best thing to do is to give him the space he’s looking for so that he can solve whatever’s bothering him and get back to normal. If you chase him it only pushes him further away, instead give him the space he needs and he’ll feel your absence as soon as he solves his problem and will want to come running back to you.
Thank you, Ray. I needed a male’s perspective, I’m hurt & all my girl friends are angry, so I can relate to almost all of these posts. I have been with a man that “needs his space” & needs a woman to be understanding about it. It’s hard for me because although we have been in a relationship for just a week over a year, I’ve been in love with him for 20. We had a 2 year off & on thing back then & I was very young & I did not understand him back then. Although I understand him now, it still hurts, & the fear is always there, nagging at me, bringing up thoughts like, is he wanting to see someone else? Am I the one pushing him away with my feelings? Why does he not love me the way I love him? Always wondering if there is someone else, but never really believing it. He told me from day one (a year ago) how he was, & I guess I decided back then I loved him enough I could handle his occasional distance & that I had enough love to push through it.
If you lay everything out on a silver platter for your guy, he will not feel the urge to ask you to be in a relationship. When it comes to committing, men are more likely to lock you down if they are intrigued by you. To do this, you need to be more mysterious. This means, don’t tell him everything right away. You need to learn how to hold back, and share bits and pieces of yourself slowly to keep him interested.

Maybe he saw something in the both of you at the start.  Maybe that something isn’t fully what he is looking for.  Remember, both of you are seeking the right match.  Allow him the space he needs to decide what level of importance you are to play in his life.  If he is pulling away perhaps you should too.  After all, once he sees you leaving his interest just might be reignited.
