I met this guy at work. We started working together and became close friends. One day l invitedhim to my place. We were watching a movie (nothing romantic) and he kissed me. I hadnt seen it coming. I asked what that was all about and said if he wants me, he should say so. He said he likes me. He looked a bit young so l asked how hold he is. He would avoid a direct answer and say “l am old enough” or “l am not a child” and “Age doesnt matter”. He never asked me formally to be his girlfriend but he would treat me as such, we went on dates and communicated frequently. Then one day he said, by the way, l just made 26 years in May. I am 30. I was devastated considering l asked him ftom the start how old he is. He said he didnt tell me then because he was scared of how l would react. We talked about it and he said age doesnt matter. But then there were moments he wouldnt communicate. He would just shut me out and when l ask what is wrong, he will say he is getting through personal issues. I gave him space. We meet a lot at my place but never at his. When l called one day and his phone was off for two days, l went looking for his house (l dropped him home once but he didnt invite me in, saying his house was a mess and it was late). I found him home n he was shocked to see me. The pattern continued though…he being so all over me one time and withdrawn the next minute. So l sent him a ling message breaking it off. He didnt reply. But said hi at work and we spoke like normal workmates n he sent me a text about work. Recently l asked him why he didnt respond to my breakup message. He said it was complex and he wanted to give me my space. He asked if l am still his friend and l didnt respond and he got worked up about it. Since l broke things off, he communicates more…he even calls and texts in a tone friendlier than when we were together. I still have feelings for him but l dont know what this is. Did l push him away? Is he scared of me (l earn more, have a car and land and a car and a bigger house)? Is he worth another try (he is hard working, smart, caring even sometimes and has plans – we’d even talked kids and marriage) or l should stick to my breakup message and let go?
It is scientifically proven that low testosterone can make men pull away, act distant and have mood swings. Irritable Male Syndrome (a.k.a male PMS) can occur anytime and can affect their relationship. If your man is avoiding you or trying to avoid you, he may be having IMS and it will get back to normal as soon as his testosterone get back to normal. If you have an intimate relationship with him and he is avoiding having sexual intercourse with you, it maybe because of his IMS that can also cause a lower sex drive or even erectile dysfunction. If you notice of these symptoms in your man, you should try to find out what exactly is happening, so you will know for sure why he is pulling away from you. Answer: Stop trying to make something happen when it isn’t right. Most women who find themselves in this position know in their heart that something isn’t right. Instead of pursuing him to find out what’s going on with him, it may be time for you to find that person inside of you who knows you deserve someone who is completely into you, not just staying to avoid hurting your feelings. Hi, I was dating a guy for only two months. We had the most amazing time together and a great connection. On date 6 we confided in each other about our traumatic pasts. We had incredibly amazing intimacy and fantastic dates. By date #8 I could tell that he was starting to fall for me. On date #9 he freaked out and told me that he had absolutely no concerns regarding our relationship and that he had no doubt about our connection and that if we continued to see each other we would have a wonderful relationship. The fear that he was having is that I have a 5 year old son. I’m 33, he’s 31 and an attorney. He wants children, but said he is not ready to have a child in his life. I was not pushing anything and he was putting pressure onto himself. I told him that I was trying to focus on the present and that I was not ready for him to be a part of that either. I just wanted things to progress naturally. He had not even met my son. He ended things after our last date without giving us a chance. We are not in contact and it’s been a week. Is there any hope for this situation?
Erika, thank you for that. After a 13 year horrible marriage and another 2 year relationship, I felt broken. I am seeing a guy who has been through something similar. He has told me he has a hard time expressing feelings. Now, he is pulling a way a little. I feel depressed, as if I am not good enough. But your response, helps me to realize: Slow is good and he and I both need time. When we are together, things are fantastic. I will give it time and see what happens.
You are aware that this relationship will be long distance for a minimum of two years. Determine what you want for the future of this relationship. Decide if this relationship is viable. It is important for him to focus on his work, as Cyprus is currently an unsafe environment. Share your thoughts and feelings with him. Give him a chance to do the same. Have a great day, Jane!
Hello .. my ex and I broke up about 5 days ago . We were in a long-distance relationship for about 4 months . Everything went well and we managed to see each other a couple of time despite the distance . Everything went ok and then one day everything changed, he became closed and distance from me , he had troubles with his studies (and felt confused about his future and studies), because of the distance things became harder , I felt that I want be there for him in this difficult time but can’t ,because he is distancing from me -and I can’t be there for someone that don’t allow me to do it . Each day I became more and more cold and distance from me ,until I talk to him about it and he told me that he can’t deal with everything right now ,and he need me right now next to him in live and not through the phone . 4 days ago I spoke with him and told him that I love him a lot and want to be with and through this hard times and wish there was a way to help him , and that I understand that he need time alone to think about everything , and that it doesn’t mean I give up on him . He respond me in a cold way “thank you,I appreciate it “ no I love you ,no affection nothing . And then I offered him maybe to come visit me , I thought that was a good idea ,but he refused and said he can’t and he can’t continue togheter , the distance is to difficult for him especially now-when he needs his girlfriend by it side . The last message from him was:that it’s hard for him this break up and he feels it’s too soon and it’s not supposed to and now and like that and that I’m very important and meaningful for him , but the only thing that comfort him, is that we have so unique connection that he is sure we will have another opportunity to be togheter when the time is right . My question is what should I do ? I feel like it was a mistake that we break up , and maybe I should have stay in contact with him ?
You must have asked yourself, ‘What are the ways to make my boyfriend miss me and want to see me?’ Well the thing is you just have to make him comfortable around you. If the two of you haven’t met in such a long time then your boyfriend could be feeling a little bit awkward. Make sure he is feeling comfortable when he’s with you as comfort will be something that he will remember when he misses you. 3.5 years ago he was my friend.we have 100s of mutual friend from school. We shared every thing we eat everyday how close friend we were.we met sometimes.I falled in love with him after 3 months of friendship.I felt so much pain inside because of insecurity because he did not know i am in love. After many thought oneday i told him that I am in love with u so badly. That day he said “Dont misunderstand me.I never said I love u.This is my last and final message to u.” Then he blocked me from every social media.
In my previous article about the ugly truths of online dating, I shared a story about how my current partner would get rebuffed time and again, simply for stating that she was a feminist. She would have built rapport with multiple men. They would ask her what she studied and what she’s interested or into. The second she mentioned she was a feminist (in passing, mind you)—guys stopped responding and sending her messages.
Me and my boyfriend Jay have been together for almost two years. In the beginning it was great, no arguing, nothing of that sort. Once we hit 10 months we started arguing really bad about little things and mostly about seeing eachother all the time, about a month after the arguing started he broke up with me, well a lot happened blah blah and then we got back together over a month after the breakup… well it’s happened again now. Now we are at our two year mark and the same thing has happened. He broke up with me last Tuesday and we have not spoke since then. He has blocked me off everything, I have no clue what is going on. I do know that he broke up with me because we were together all the time, we argued a lot, he said that I needed to ” change “. Since Tuesday I have been trying my hardest to change and improve myself to show him that I really do care about our relationship. I want to give him his space and time but i don’t know if he will ever talk to me again, how long it will take, or if he wants to be with me. We have been together a long time and I’m just so upset and confused. I don’t know if this is over for good..
Once you’ve rocked his world, don’t say, “OK, I rocked you, now pay me back with your lifelong commitment.” That won’t work. Show him that he must earn that privilege. And keep earning it. I’m not talking about berating, withholding or any other mind-f*ck thing we all despise. (Not sure what I mean? Find out why “you go girl” thinking is the worst advice.)
Women have an innate desire to be heard and understood. They want a partner who will listen to them without judgment and who will create an environment where they feel comfortable expressing vulnerability. Some of the best relationship advice for men is learning to master the skill of empathy. There are many ways to be empathetic, which include active listening, suspending any judgment or preconceived notions you may have about a given situation and putting yourself in her shoes, and showing positive body language to let her know that you’re engaged in the conversation.

"[I]n a nationally representative sample of 19,131 respondents who married between 2005 and 2012, results indicate that more than one-third of marriages in America now begin on-line. In addition, marriages that began on-line, when compared with those that began through traditional off-line venues, were slightly less likely to result in a marital break-up (separation or divorce) and were associated with slightly higher marital satisfaction among those respondents who remained married."4
So, I met him accidentlly one night on the way to a friend’s place after a party. th is guy’s bike had broke down n he also had bruises on him because had slipped. i asked my friends to stop to help him. my friends helped him n I, God knows why, invited him over to my friend’s place, one of the reasons may be because it was late at night and he stayed close to my friend’s place. He accepted. We hit it off right away. we stayed up all night, all of us and talked. next morning he also stayed back for breakfast. he randomly gave out his #. but i did not save it. instead one of my friend(guy) did. I was leaving the city pretty soon. so, my friends and i were planning for house party at my place. he offered to come, too and suggested he’d cook as a thank you for helping him.
Rather than work proactively, trying so hard to get the guy to like you, you ought to invest more time in simply having fun. Associating yourself with positive associations and building pleasant memories together is far more important than trying to convince him that you’re “something” or “somebody”. Be the type of woman that simply enjoys his company and wants to have together. You’re not trying to influence him or get something out of him.
If you’re like most women, when that special someone calls or sends a text, you want to respond back immediately, especially if you’ve been waiting to hear from him for a while. If you make him wait too long, maybe he’ll lose interest though, or is that just what you think? But that is definitely not the case. Responding to his contact right away sends the message that you are just sitting by your phone waiting for him to reach out. Men love a chase so you can't make it all too easy for him. A good rule of thumb is to make him wait twice as long as it took for him to respond to you last. These little games may be silly but they work and it will make him think about you and miss you. Patience will help you when it comes to texting and calling.
You deserve better.. don’t contact him, it’s desperate… I know it’s hard, but respect and love yourself. Take it from a girl who took 13 years to get out. He doesn’t respect you nor your relationship .. he has control, knows you’ll be there should he want to return. Please, take time to really determine if you want to spend life with someone who breaks up with you every few months? Hits on other girls? Hangs up on you? He isn’t invested in the dynamic.. don’t give more than you receive.
It is going to be a year that we broke up. We are both on our early 50’s. He would hardly ever contact me for the first 8 months but for the last 3 months he has been emailing me and/or texting, he doesn’t have social media. After our break up (which he tells me it was because he couldn’t give me what I wanted) he became involved with someone totally the opposite of me, but cheated on her. He did introduce her to his family as a friend. Our text messages were at first him telling me that he would never see or talk to me again. But will continue to text me some times during the day and mostly during the evening, especially after 11 PM. Our messages have become very intimate. He asked me to come over 3 weeks ago for the first time since we broke up(he had said he would not invite me over again) with the excuse that his back hurt and that I was the only person that could help him. I stopped by (it was after 11 PM) and gave him his back massage for about an hour. I realize he was extremely turned on but we did not get intimate that night. I went home after and he asked me to please text him to let him know I was home safely, which was our routine when we were together before. I texted him the next morning to ask him how was his back feeling but he did not reply, in fact he did not text me again for 7 days. His brother passed away and I sent him my condolences and had a sympathy card for him and his family. I finally saw him again at a car wash before his brother’s funeral and he hugged me tightly when I gave him a hug with my sympathy. Last Friday he asked me to come over again after 11 PM because of his back. I did it again, I went over his place and fixed his back, only this time we were very intimate, but he refused to have intercourse, only other things. We helped each other to a release, but when I tried to go all the way he said NO, we are not doing that. Again he has not texted me back and it has been 4 days. I am so confused. I am not sure if he was using me or if he really did miss me. I have no idea if he still with the other person since I have not asked him. We were together for 2 years before breaking up, we were the best of friends and talked every day and night. He called me and texted me every day when he went away on a cruise with his friends. We enjoyed each other’s company and loved watching football games, which this girl hates any sports. I am not sure what to think. My best friends tells me he is using me, his son tells me he is confused. Please help me understand this man. I love him and I really believed he cared for me. I just don’t know what to think or if it is worth waiting a little bit longer to see if he just gets his mind straight. Thank you!
Absolutely. Why would u even bother with somebody like that. Everybody needs space and that applies to women also but that doesnt mean that u have to distance urself from each other to an extreme where u feel unloved and insecure in the relationship and why should any woman accept that its ok for a man to do this. Imagine if the woman did it…….different story then.
I can see exactly where i have pushed when he’s clearly been pulling away, but i wonder if I’ve pushed too hard and now blown my chances , or if he just wasn’t that into me and didn’t want to let me down? It’s been 9 days since i replied to him and have decided to take this advice, give him some space and look into other options, i hope he will be back in touch, but im trying to be realistic about the fact it’s a bit of a lost cause.
Fast forward. In November after I wrote him a long note about my feelings and what I went thru when we split we talked in person. He finally opened up about why he didn’t tell me the truth about his 4th marriage. We continue to text and talk on the phone sometimes. We are both still angry about the past, he more than I. I am willing to let go and and forgive him but it seems now he is in that anger stage.
It’s also really important to take into consideration how often these things are happening, and how long it’s been going on. If you’ve dated for a year and he’s hardly every canceled a date, then all of a sudden over the course of one month he’s canceled on you three times, remember that this is one month out of many! Don’t erase those first 12 months in your mind as if they didn’t happen.
You know, I could've titled this "Three Signs You Still Love Your Ex." Because love and hate are each an emotion that is very close to the other, if you think about it. I want to go over this today with all of you because there are a lot of you out there that have a lot of anger toward the ex in your life, and for some of you it's affecting a lot of different levels of your life. We broke up so sudden. I said one thing he didn’t like and it was like a switch. He had flipped just like that. Then all of a sudden all these problems he’s been thinking about has came up. I’m still trying to understand them. I’m still trying to understand which reasonings he said are actually true and which aren’t. It’s been 4 days, ive texted him once. No reply. I havent tried again, and I refuse to. I would hate to push him away further.

I had my girl friend who break up with me yesterday… After realising her actions towards me of ignoring me not ansaring mi phone and doing those things which made me small showing people that im nthing to her! then i made a clear question of whether we continue with ur journey or we stop for enternity?? Her respond was we have to stop and i love her so much but due to pressure, the things i bought for her i have taken them even the 1s i borrowed her… My heart is still wondering of what happened to myself… Haek

I know we got back together last time, and I have a feeling he will come back this time too. This year, it wouldve been our 4th birthday and christmas together, he even said no one celebrated his birthday before me, and no one wanted to decorate the house for halloween and christmas like he did. He did tell me he cares about me, but he did say that he wasnt happy with himself anymore. So I dont know. State fair is in a month and it is our tradition to go to it. We always had so much fun. its in a month and a half. I was wondering if it is okay for me to ask him to go as friends? I am going on another trip in a week to just get out of here and not let sadness come to my life. I already signed up for some fun activities and new hobbies as well to keep myself busy and learn bunch of new things I have always wanted to learn. I do love him and I care about him. I don’t want him to hate his life thinking he hasnt achieved anything and gone no where in life, but he has told me multiple times, I am the one who pushes him to do better, and I mean the past two weeks all he has done was really sitting in bed, or getting drunk … so how is that improving his life I have no clue!
I have been dating a very successful professional, who also does a lot of additional work in non-profit and education. We went on 7 dates over 8 weeks, and he was always romantic and generous on these dates ie. expensive restaurants, shows, serenading me on his guitar, flowers, telling me he was in love with me and addicted to me, flirty texts… After the 5th date, I noticed that he messaged me less frequently and sometimes took days to respond. He mentioned that he was going through some stressful family stuff, and I assumed that it was related to a family illness. On our 7th date, he told me that his parent had collapsed a few days before and was in hospital from an illness that was related to addiction. He told me that he was extremely stressed because it was bringing up old issues for him, and he warned me that when he is stressed, he pulls away from everyone and needs time and space alone. A week before Christmas, he told me that his father had been admitted into a clinic and that he was concerned that his father would not commit to the program. He was sick with the flu and would sometimes message me just before midnight to say hello and that he had just gotten off work. He did not ask to see me, but he was taking time to see his friends. I messaged him now-and-then with appreciative texts, to which he responded positively, but then would not continue the conversation. By the fourth week of not seeing him, I was at the end of my rope, and I messaged him that I understood that he was going through a lot and that he was also busy with work, but that I would like to meet him to catch up because our communication was not what it used to be, and it had been 4 weeks since we had seen each other. He replied that he was aware that he was pulling away, and that he needed some more time to himself as he was struggling to find grounding. He told me that the family issues were still ongoing and causing a lot of stress. I said he would love to see me in the future but that right now he needed time alone. He told me that he understood if that was unacceptable to me, but that he hoped that I would wait for him and give him a little more time. I replied that I had been hurt and confused over the holidays because we did not see each other, but that I understood he needed space and time. I appreciated that he gave me some clarity and I would like for us to communicate better. I told him that I respected, cared for him and wished him happiness. Since our last text conversation 2 weeks ago, neither of us have reached out to one another. I’m finding it really hard to not see or talk to him, but from what I have read in relationship articles including this one about giving a man space when he is pulling away from stress, it is the best course of action. Some days I am so busy myself that I don’t really have time to think about him, but when I do, I become quite depressed. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated…
When a relationship is fresh and new, everything is exciting- especially when the two of you hit the sheets. You go at it like wild animals and since you haven’t been doing it often, everything is new and intriguing. However, as the relationship continues, sometimes that sexual spark flares out and the two of you are stuck in a sexual rut. And men, being extra sexual by nature, may pull away if they’ve lost the spark that can’t be lit up again.
So it was never an official relationship. But we had been dating regularly for about a month. Quite a lot of phone/ text contact. The vibe was easy, flirty, and really quite open and emotional too. He was so comfortable with me. He shared so much of himself and his thoughts and his feelings. We both agreed that we would just take it slow and easy and see how things develop. Then one night I stayed over, and we had sex, but it was really awkward. Just before he got really upset with me and told me that he thought I was a tease and making him feel desperate and needy. I was just being playful and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to sleep with him that night. Actually I didnt really. But he got mad and told me that he thought I was playing games and somehow I panicked and slept with him. But it was not good. Anyway, I felt depressed the next day, and told him about it. (MISTAKE) which i redeemed later and after a few days things were ok again. But he wouldn’t call me as frquently and he stopped being warm when he did contact me. He used to call me princess and sweetheart. All that stopped. So I got nervous. He would call me once a week to say he was super busy and didn’t have time to meet (this is true because of his job) but I thought he was making excuses not to see me. And I kept asking him. And then I asked him one night and it turned into an argument that went on till 2am and the next day he sent me a text to say that it was his last text to me for a while and that we shoudl just be friends and get a peaceful closure on things. So I called and agreed and said yes, but I also reminded him that it wasn’t like we were a couple anyway, and that we were just friends anyway. And I mentioned that I might be moving away really soon ( i had a job interview which required me to relocate, incidentally I didnt get it,but at the time I hadnt told anyone) so he said that he didn’t know and he asked me twice to let him know how it went. That was three weeks ago and I havent’ been in touch. I didnt call him on his birthday, and i havent told him about my interview. But I miss him everyday. Im working on becoming my best self. BUt I really want to be close to him. I miss him. Do I have a chance, or has he lost the attraction for me?
Next, consider the situation in full. You need to look at all of these signs and not just a single one of them. If he’s not paying as much attention to you when you talk and it feels like he’s just not listening … but he’s still initiating just as much and responding to all of your texts, then you need to consider the possibility that he’s distracted for some reason that has nothing to do with you. Maybe he’s not feeling well or maybe he has something on his mind.

I read your article and found it useful as this was my first serious relationship and he has decided to ended by ghosting (he did however tried to end it before and pleaded to give us a chance) after texting him concerned about why he is not answering and that was a week after me not contacting him he calls me ending it anws I pleaded for him to come by tmrw so we can talk I wasn’t sure he was going thru it and I ended up going through binge drinking to the extent he came by and saw me all drunk and vunrable he left shortly (I do not remember that much) and ended calling him once and texting him a huge message about admitting what we had was real
